Dentures
If you are missing teeth, a denture could be the solution to helping you enjoy eating again and to restoring your smile.
Dentures are a removable option for replacing your missing teeth. A denture can be made if you are missing only one or two teeth, missing a number of teeth or need a replacement for all of your teeth.
Partial Dentures
If you are missing some teeth and your natural teeth are functioning well a partial denture could be a great option to replace your missing teeth.
A partial denture is tailored to replace your missing teeth and uses your remaining teeth to support and stabilise the denture.
Materials and Construction:
The two most common denture bases use acrylic or a combination of cobalt chrome and acrylic.
Acrylic
Acrylic is used to make good stable dentures with a gum coloured, pink base supporting the denture teeth. Integrated metal clasps are individually positioned to hold this framework in place using you existing natural teeth.
The acrylic base is designed to use the surface area of your gum for suction and stability. A bonus to an acrylic denture is that they can be easily modified allowing another tooth to be added in the future, if needed.
Cobalt Chrome
Cobalt chrome based dentures are stronger and thinner than the acrylic alternative making them more comfortable to use. Here, a metal framework is designed to fit around your remaining natural teeth. The framework provides comfortable and secure stability and supports the pink, gum coloured acrylic and denture teeth.
