Our teeth only feel sore and ache if something is not right.
It may start with a short, sharp pain or maybe a dull ache. Teeth can’t repair themselves so if there’s something wrong with your tooth, come in and see us early.
Sensitive Teeth
We now know that there are many reasons why teeth can get sensitive. When you come in for your consultation, your dentist will assess your teeth and investigate the reasons for your sensitivity. Is it bacterial plaque related? Maybe you have gum recession and exposed root surfaces. Are you grinding your teeth? Do you like to eat foods with high acid or sugar content? You could even be over brushing your teeth! Your dentist can diagnose the reason for your tooth sensitivity and recommend the best treatment to solve your problem.
Root Canal Treatment
If bacteria have found a way into the central pulp or nerve of the tooth, your tooth may become very painful. You may need to consider saving your tooth with Root Canal Treatment or having your tooth extracted. Your dentist can provide an individual assessment of your case to help you make this decision. Our priority is to relieve your toothache and keep you comfortable.
Root Canal Treatment allows us to keep teeth when the pulp or nerve of the tooth is no longer healthy. The pulp or nerve of a tooth is soft and delicate. It’s protected by the hard outer layers of our teeth. The pulp can become unhealthy if your tooth has a new, large, decayed cavity or if its had a large cavity in the past. The pulp of a tooth may even die if you have had trauma to your tooth like knocking your tooth while playing sport.
Root Canal Treatment will usually be provided over a number of appointments that your dentist will outline for you. Your tooth will be treated with medicated dressings so that we can get you comfortable as quickly as possible.
Extraction
Our dentists are experienced with removing teeth. We will assess your tooth with a radiograph or X-ray and we’ll discuss your options with you. We’ll make sure your appointment is as comfortable as possible and check in with you to ensure your healing is going well.
